Philip J. Bona, AIA

 

 

Philip J. Bona, AIA joined Wolf Lang Christopher Architects in 2002 and opened their new Emeryville California office.  His primary duty for the firm is Deputy Master Architect and Senior Project Manager assisting in the oversight of sixty K-12 schools for the West Contra Costa Unified School District.  He also is a part time professor of architecture with the San Mateo Community College District teaching “ An Introduction to Architecture.”  Formerly Principal and Senior Associate with other San Francisco Bay Area firms, he has provided professional architectural services to private and public sector clients since 1975.  In 1996, Philip received an award from the American Institute of Architects for Design Excellence for Historic Restoration of a Church in Belmont California.  While he has enjoyed a diverse architectural practice including single and multi-family residential, commercial/office, light industrial, retail, restaurant, theater, USPS, D.O.D, and healthcare projects, his recent K-16 Educational Project experience includes design and project management for hundreds of Classrooms in dozens of new buildings, 9 Libraries, 1 learning center, 12 Multi-use buildings, 90 Modernized buildings, 2 Competition Gymnasiums, and a Community/Youth Center.  He led the Silicon Valley Housing the Next One Million Regional AIA Design Charrette; is a past president of AIA San Mateo County; and has earned numerous professional achievement awards from AIASMC and AIACC.  He is currently a member of the AIA National Mentorship Taskforce, the AIA National Livable Communities Committee, the AIACC Long Range Planning Committee, an AIACC CalcPac Trustee, a Consultant to the AIACC Mentoring Committee, and an Alternate Director of the AIACC Board.  In May 2003, his article, “Mentoring the New Thought Leaders” was published in the ArcCA Magazine by the American Institute of Architects in California.
